Journey into the trees

Trees are truly profound beings that offer us more than just shade and beauty; they are the silent architects of life on Earth, nurturing our ecosystems, regulating the climate, and sustaining the very air we breathe.

I invite you on a journey into the trees with me, where we will create a deeper sense of connection and gratitude towards the tall and rooted.

Let’s start by sitting in meditation. Create a comfortable seating space, maybe bring a journal to jot down your experience after, and when you are ready, close your eyes. Bring your attention to the space between your eyebrows and imagine yourself as a tree.

Imagine an evergreen that is tall, with the sun kissing your top, and the squirrels playing in your limbs. Imagine a willow, flowing in the wind, geese landing in a nearby pond brush by your leaves.

What do you feel? What do you see? What do you hear? What wisdom does the tree have to share with you?

This is a simple start to a deeper relationship with these beautiful beings. Next time you go into the forest, bring this practice with you and sit in meditation with a tree. Allow yourself to feel its energy and listen to what it has to offer you in that moment.

I’ll leave you with a simple list of ideas to deepen your connection with trees. Often, it’s the simplest practices that are the most powerful.

  1. Plant a tree

  2. Climb a tree

  3. Walk in the woods

  4. Make a tree tea (we use douglas fir needles in ours!)
